Little League Field Dedicated to Hunter Resch

The name of a life cut very short will live on at a little league field in Charlotte.

The Charlotte Youth Athletic Associate Little League named one of its T-Ball fields "Hunter Resch Field." ***

Hunter's mother was on hand as a sign with his name and smiling picture was unveiled. He played two seasons with the league as a member of the Burlington Bees.

League members said that by dedicating the field in Hunter's name, he will always be a part of an extended family.

"This is a family-oriented league and as with any family member. You look after your family and we wanted to add his memory because he was part of our family and he will continue to be a part of our family, even if it's as a memory," said Brian Labigan, CYAA president.

In addition to the field dedication, Hunter's initials are printed on all player and coach uniforms across the league.

Are You Ready for Some Baseball???

Welcome to the 2009 CYAA baseball season.

Please see the post below regarding the Mandatory Parent-Only Meeting.

We are asking that everyone bring in a non-perishable food item that will be
donated to a local food cupboard.

And, for those of you returning, I am sure that you may be finding out that your
kids have outgrown their uniform pants, cleats, and even mitts. I, myself have
2 or 3 pairs of cleats and a bunch of baseball mitts that my kids have outgrown.
Please do not throw them out. Bring them to the meeting and we will have a box
to collect those items that your kids have outgrown. And, if a family is having
some difficulty, we will be able to provide them some assistance. We don't want
to have any worries on the fields... only fun.

The CYAA Board looks forward to welcoming back our returning familes and to
meeting all the new families that are joining us this year.

We are also looking to fill some volunteer vacancies so please do not hesitate
to ask what you can do.

We will see you next week... Enjoy the great weather

Joan M. Gilman
CYAA League Secretary

Mandatory Parent-Only Meeting

WHAT: PARENT ONLY MEETING

WHEN:
WED 4/29/08: T-BALL
THURS 4/30/08: INTERNATIONAL, AMERICAN, NATIONAL, PONY, GIRLS SOFTBALL

WHERE: HOLY CROSS CAFETERIA

TIME:

This year CYAA is requiring at least one parent from each family to attend a mandatory parent only meeting before the start of the 2009 baseball season.

We will be giving you updates on the field, going over general rules, and discussing and signing the Code of Conduct. A signed Code of Conduct is a requirement of every parent, coach, and player.

This meeting is a requirement in order for your child(ren) to participate in the league.

At the end of the meeting, we will also be taking any candy money that needs to be turned in.

If you have a child in T-Ball and another in one of the other leagues, you only need to attend one meeting. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Brian Labigan at 663-0030 or Joan Gilman at 865-5288.

2008 CYAA End-of-Year Picnic

The Charlotte Youth Athletic Association's End-of-Year Picnic was Tuesday, July 22 at Ontario Beach Park. The food and camaraderie were great and all children in attendence got to choose a raffle prize. Thank you to all the board members and volunteers who planned the picnic, set it up, ran it, and cleaned up afterwards. Thanks also to the CYAA sponsors whose sponsorship allows CYAA to have quality events like this one. And thank you to all the players and their families who came out to enjoy it.

Your Help Needed

Changes to the CYAA Website are coming. Any ideas are welcome. What would you like to see on it? We have noticed a lot of cameras at the CYAA events and if you can forward any photos you'd like to share, we'll get them up. You can send them via an attachment to an email to cyaabaseballwebmaster@yahoo.com or send a message to me to request other arrangements. If you feel your team or individual player is under-represented, this is your chance to ensure that there are more photos to choose from. You can also, at any event, request that a photo be taken of you and your player or team.
